Keratoconus (irregular curvature of the cornea)

If your cornea has become "irregular" after a disease or an accident, that is, if the surface is "wavy" or otherwise uneven, or if you suffer from a so-called keratoconus (a hereditary modification of the tissue), your sight may become blurred or distorted. Depending on the cause of the irregularity, the situation can be stable or further deteriorate over the years.

Treatment methods such as corneal cross-linking (CCL) and intracorneal ring segments (ICRS) may help, under certain conditions, by reducing the irregularity or by preventing a further deterioration.
